A History of Controlled Clinical Trials in Diabetic Retinopathy

Randomized, controlled clinical trials (RCTs) are a definitive method of determining optimal therapies for disease. RCTs of treatment of diabetic retinopathy have become among the most successful in medicine. In this talk, Robert N. Frank, MD, FARVO provides an overview of major clinical trials in Diabetic Retinopathy and concludes with thoughts about future directions. In addition, his talk is preceded by an introduction from Arup Das, MD, PhD, FARVO, that highlights Frank’s contributions to the field.
