Fun things to do in Baltimore

Walk around the Inner Harbor

dragon_boats.jpgThe Convention Center sits right in the heart of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The area is dotted with restaurants, shops and pubs and it’s a pretty walk with a lot going on in summer. You can just walk around the water, which is fun, relaxing and free! J Rent one of the dragon paddle-boats or take a water taxi to further explore the Harbor.

Visit the American Visionary Art Museum

American Visionary Art Museum is located about a mile away from the Convention Center. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday and although there is an admission fee for adults ($15.95), children under 6 can go for free and there is a diVisionary_art_museum.jpgscounted rate for students. It’s a great place to visit to see creative pieces of art produced by self-taught individuals who generally have no formal training.

Added plus: It is holding its Annual Kinetic Sculpture race on May 6, in case you’re coming a day early for ARVO. The race starts at 10am at the American Visionary Art Museum and is free for spectators. It is a race featuring “human-powered works of art.” You can also catch these artistic vehicles at other great spots, including Federal Hill, Canton and Patterson Park. Check out their website for more details.
