Presentation: Mechanisms of photoreceptor outer segment assembly (OSA) and retinal disease

Defects in the formation of outer photoreceptor segments underlie many blinding inherited retinal diseases. Dr. Spencer's work aims to elucidate the basic molecular mechanisms responsible for outer segment formation and understand how defects in these processes lead to retinal degeneration.
