Dirk-Uwe Bartsch, Ph.D., is Associate Adjunct Professor and Co-director of the Jacobs Retina Center. Dirk-Uwe Bartsch attended Technische Universitaet before completing graduate studies and his fellowship at University of California, San Diego. Cited in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the World, and Who's Who in Medicine, Dirk-Uwe Bartsch graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Ph.D. in bioengineering.

Bartsch’s research is focused in retinal imaging, scanning laser imaging -confocal/non-confocal, optical coherence tomography (OCT), indocyanine green and fluorescein angiography, and tomographic reconstruction of the posterior pole.

Bartsch has been honored with an Achievement Award American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as the Fellow of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Most recently he has been named an ARVO Gold Fellow in the Class of 2013.
