My research interests are focused on three interconnected areas or research: (1) studying the role of the autophagic lysosomal degradative pathway in the physiology and pathophysiology of ocular hypertension and neurodegeneration in glaucoma; (2) investigating a potential role of phagocytosis in outflow pathway tissue homeostasis; and (3) evaluating the effects of oxidative stress/aging in autophagic, phagocytic, and exocytic pathways in TM cells, and determine how those effects can modulate outflow resistance.
