Bio

I, am a Medical Microbiologist by training and I head the Microbiology Services across the LVPEI Network. I am involved in diagnostic and research activities pertaining to ocular infections.  I was awarded grants from the DST-SERB and ICMR for the same. Apart from diagnostic value, understanding host-pathogen interactions in endophthalmitis can direct potential therapies to better protect the delicate retina and preserve vision, which is the main focus of my lab. In addition to research, I am also involved in teaching Medical Microbiology to ophthalmology fellows and optometry undergraduate students as well as monitoring the infection control activities of  the hospital. During the course of my career, I have published over 130 manuscripts in peerreviewed journals and am on the editorial board of Frontiers in Immunology and Cellular and Infection Microbiology as well as the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.

A country with high prevalence of eye infections, it is only fitting that India should focus on finding the best diagnostic methods and treatment strategies for the rest of the world to follow.

My other scientific achievements include, the Dr C.S. Bhaskaran Gold Medal at the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists, 2015 and the Young Scientist Award, 2016 and Associate Fellow 2018 by the Telangana Academy of Sciences and I have made several presentations at various national and international conferences as well.
